I entered my underbust and overbust size on this website just for kicks. They don't even explain how to calculate your bra size from your measurements, just have you use their calculator. At a 29 underbust and a 35 overbust, they tell me I'm a 34A. I think their calculator is broken--even if you do add five to the underbust, aren't you still supposed to use the absolute difference between that and the overbust to calculate cup size?

The stupid. It burns.

I see this error everywhere, and for me at least, it's the difference between a bra size that almost works and one that will never work in a million years.

Me too! I would otherwise end up with a 34DDD or thereabouts, which wouldn't fit me well but would at least sort of vaguely fit, versus a 34A which is a complete joke!

Hmm, I dunno. Their way I get a 36B which is BAD but I can wear it. (It's actually what I wore before my braphifany) The other I'd get a 36E which would be ludicrously huge. My breasts would simply fall out of the bra when I raised my hands.

I put in 27.5 and 34.5 (over a bra and tshirt), and got 32C. I bet they don't offer anything below a 32, so everything gets rounded up.

I also never understand why you're admonished to not measure the underbust too tightly. Measuring too loosely will result in an even looser measurement!

I got 30A, but it looks like 32C is the smallest size they actually carry.

Wow, that calculator was spot-on for me! 28 under plus 36 over = 30F! Very cool. Thanks for the link.

holy crap. for 33 and 42 it gave me a 36G UK/34I US which is what i was wearing today (I also have two bras in a 34FF UK/34H US that fit). how cool!

At least that's vaguely close. They actually gave you a band size smaller than your actual one! Wow.

It keeps telling me I'm a 38B, which is highly amusing considering I'm wearing a 32F right now (that fits wonderfully). Before I found this community, I was wearing a 36DD, and before I knew not to trust the saleslady, I was wearing a 38D. SIGH.

It tells me I'm 34C, which is what Victoria's Secret told me. I don't get this at all - the fit of even a 34D is SO ridiculously bad (I was wearing a 36DD that was too small before I found out my real size - 30G-28GG).

For kicks, I went up a half inch and entered 30/39.
It gave me 34F, which was in fact the first bra size I ever tried that I thought fit well. I was in 36DDDs before that.
However, the bras it shows me for that size are BUGLY.

I am a rabid convert against the 'five inches' nonsense after spending a year with waistboobs wearing a 36E. I have a 30-inch ribcage and now wear 32G mostly, although I have a 30H that fits. The 36E bras are too loose to wear round the house even.

It's just so they can sell a smaller range of sizes.

Mind you, I think M&S and La Senza have retro-fitted their bras to *work* with the five-inches rule, because La Senza especially have really tight 32 bands and M&S have rather stingy cup sizes (which is a shame, because I could save a lot of money if I could fit an M&S 32G)

at 33 under and 42 over, i was given a 36F.

i wear a 34H/34I (34F/34G UK).

wow. that's a band size and 2 or 3 cups. i just traded up a cup size and was spilling out of that. i can't imagine an F.

*that as in one cup size smaller than my current bra
